How do I know if a concussion or brain injury occurred?

A concussion may cause headaches, dizziness, confusion, nausea, blurred vision, or sensitivity to light and noise. Some people also experience memory problems or difficulty concentrating. Loss of consciousness is not required for a concussion.

Symptoms can appear immediately or develop hours or days later. Mood changes, sleep disturbances, or feeling “foggy” can also be warning signs. These symptoms are sometimes subtle at first.

Any suspected brain injury should be evaluated by a medical professional. Early diagnosis helps guide rest, treatment, and recovery. Ignoring symptoms can increase the risk of complications.
